A natural gap in the mountain. There is a legend of Roland making the gap in an attempt to destroy his sword, Durandal. Whatever the case I am glad it's there!
To give you an idea of the size of the breach, well there are people up there in this photo. It's supposed to be 40 m wide, and 100 m high.
