Cours Mirabeau

The main street of Aix en Provence.

Terres et Couleurs

Really beautiful colourful stall.

Market Mushroom Measuring.

Mushrooms in many shapes, sizes and colours.

Olives, Olives, Olives

Well what can I say about the Olives, but that they are really delicious.

Wholesome Trade

That's the thought(wholesome trade) that came into my mind before taking this photo, taken at the Aix Saturday morning market.

November Outdoor Lunch

Today was another day this month when it was about 20 degrees C in the warmest part of the day, and gorgeous weather for lunch outside.Great!

Cafe, Culture, Coffee

There are an abundance of  cafes in Aix, I very much enjoy attending a few of them.

A Vintage

I found this at an olive mill I went to after collecting over 43 kilos of that sublime fruit.

Times Telling

Over 7 months not out - in France now. Love the country.

Place de Gaulle

The main rond point in the centre of Aix en Provence. A lovely small city, with a large student population.

Mere Shadows of Ourselves.

It is a truly sorry thing to behold what Diesel and myself have been reduced to, our former selves were more solid somehow. And I remember having been taller than Diesel, and look there I am on the left . To be a shadow is to lead a rather uncertain existence! But then that's the reality for all in truth.

Church and Alps.

At Menton the Alps come to salute the Sea. It is very pleasing to be in both of these fine fellows company at one and the same time. Splendid, indeed.

Shades of Pastel

This hillside was such a beautiful colourful sight, I have never seen buildings look so good in mass.

French Flag Flying

Blue and red are the traditional colours of Paris, used on the city's coat of arms. Blue is identified with Saint Martin, red with Saint Denis. At the storming of the Bastille in 1789, the Paris militia wore blue and red cockades on their hats. White had long featured prominently on French flags and is described as the "ancient French colour" by Lafayette. White was added to the "revolutionary" colors of the militia cockade to "nationalise" the design, thus creating the tricolour cockade.

la place des citrons

Menton is famous for it's lemons and also as a popular retirement destination. I can see why.

Sea, Sun, Sky.

Looking back towards Menton from Italy.

Levant

Such  mornings make me think that most of us miss out not rising at sunrise. What a truly beautiful, rich experience. No matter what your horizon too!

The Prettiest Girl In The World

I have loved Audrey Tautou since I first saw her in the film Amelie. I hear she is currently single! I know what I will be wishing for at the well!

A City by The Sea

Up there as one of my favourite places I've  been in France. Menton the old quarter taken here from around the bay.

Menton!

I finally made it to this place that I had wanted to visit since I first read about it a couple of years ago. This was taken from my seat while having lunch! Not a bad dining location.

Monaco

A view of Monaco while on our way to Menton.

Blue, Bay, Boats.

At Villefranche sur Mer, just around the corner from Nice.

That's Nice

Couldn't help myself from that title! Anyway that is the city of that name, with some guy getting in the way in the foreground.

Stone Art

An amazing amount of work had obviously gone into creating this beautiful floor, I found it in a park in Nice.

Couleurs Vives

There were some stunning parts of the Cote d'azur, such as this place, near Theoule -sur-Mer.

St. Tropez Beach

The water here was possibly the warmest I've swam in the Mediterranean. Shallow for a long way out too. Great swimming location. Massive beach.

Becoming Famous

Not quite on the same level as Victor Hugo yet, but it's a start!

Morning Light

Taken at Cavalaire sur Mer. Not a very nice place. Wouldn't recommend it. All we did there was eat and sleep and leave early.

Smokin!

Tiling work in Arles. An interesting place, where Van Gogh lived. Unbelievably there is no gallery of his work there!

Car Problems

A road sign I still haven't figured out the meaning of.
Beware of your car exploding!?

St. Tropez

I don't know who he was but here's his boat!

Life in Colour

Yet another good aspect to life in France, the colours one see's are really beautiful.

An Amateur Photographer

Not sure he really knew what he was doing with the camera, still he tried, I will give him that.

Cassis Beach

I loved swimming here, a beautiful place. And it wasn't too crowded.

Me and my DS3

When Diesel and I heard we were getting a Citroen DS3 as our hire car, we were really happy. And it only got better when we saw it, and then drove it! It's the nicest I've seen, and it was great to drive. I would love 1 for Christmas anyone?

Anchored in France

The climate, food, culture, just a few good reasons to make one consider staying!

On the Cote d' Azur

French for blackcurrants. I love both, the fruit and the town!

An Inlet of Paradise

I am very fortunate to have been many beautiful places, and the Calanques are certainly on that list.

The Beauty of Water

I have never seen water so beautiful as the water in the Calanques inlets.

Cassis Boat Trip

One of the highlights of the week, a great boat trip from Cassis along the coastline to the Calanques. Amazing inlets, with gorgeous water.

Friends

I had a great time with Diesel. A lovely week. Good weather and visited some lovely places, such as Saint Tropez. Which is where this photo was taken.

Man of Steel

My new HelpX host! A real tough guy. I caught him watching me from an upstairs window! Luckily for me, I am a good bit taller.

The Wall Clock

The only way this clock could have been better in my opinion, is if it had worked!

Modern Lines

The modern landscape is full of lines, from electric, telephone and plane lines overhead. To train, road and field lines all around us. I think that perhaps our thinking is too linear, just like the landscape.

Sunflower Field

There are many fields full of sunflowers in the Dordogne, some of which are spanning several hectares.

Blooming Gorgeous

A good way to decorate the front of the house!

The Cosmos

A truly beautiful sight. It is a special thing to see so many flowers in one place together in bloom . A profusion of colour, and the life force seems so vivid, and the atmosphere light and joyful. It's Mother Earth's happy hour.

Les Eyzies

This was my last point of call. From here, I hitch-hiked back to Eymet. Some 80 km, thanks to 7 different people. It's great that it can work, and I find it interesting meeting all different kinds of people, it's quite a unique experience.
